The Pale of Settlement
Mondays, 30 January, 6, 13, 20 & 27 February, 19:30-20:45 on Zoom

The Pale of Settlement is a very important part of our Jewish history. The Pale was the biggest Jewish Ghetto in the history of humanity, which existed for 126 years, and made a profound impact on both Jewish and the world’s history at the time. Many Jewish families around the world trace their roots back to the Pale.

In the series of 5 talks We will learn about the history and the lessons from of the Pale. Please feel free to join any of the sessions! With Rabbi Tanya.

In this session we will learn what is in common between Tsar Nikolas I and Hitler and about the important lesson Jews didn’t learn from their own history. We will also read the testimonies of various people about the effects of Nikolas I policies on the life of ordinary Jews. We will discuss the consequences of those policies on the future of the Jewish Community of the Pale. We will learn how Tsar Nicholas I deep prejudice against Jews and Poles helped both people to unite for a brief moment of history in the fight for Poland’s independence.
