When the Israelites leave Egypt in our Torah portion Beshallach this week, they are joined by a mixed multitude of people who accompany them on their journey through the wilderness to the Promised Land.

Rabbi Mark’s shiur asks how our Judaism began to define who is a Jew, and thus part of our people Israel, and how this definition has developed over the millennia.
